Cypress Gardens
Cypress Gardens, which sadly closed on 13th April, 2003, happily reopened in December 2004. The gardens were known to generations of visitors as the home of beautiful blooms and hoop-skirted belles. Kent Buescher is reported to have invested $50 million into re-opening the park. His plans included preserving the gardens and ski show and adding rides to attract younger visitors. The gardens themselves are glorious again, with native plants and exotic species combining in a magnificent display. A walk along Topiary Trail reveals a collection of colourful topiaries. The Plantation Gardens include an aromatic herb garden, rose garden and butterfly garden. Cypress Gardens Adventure Park now offers far more than just beautifully manicured gardens. There are currently 38 rides to enjoy, as well as Splash Island Water Park (June 2005), Nature’s Way, Jubilee Junction, shows and concerts. There are also plans to introduce some interesting animals! Rides The park offers rides to suit everyone in the family, including the thrill-seekers. There are four coasters and the world’s tallest spinning rapids ride. Splash Island Water Park (Due to open in June 2005). The water park will feature six attractions suitable for all age groups. Even tiny tots can enjoy the gentle fun of “pop-jets and bubbles”. Other water attractions will be Poynesian Adventure – offering loads of slippery fun on slides, rope ladders and platforms; Kowabunga Bay – a 20,000 sq. ft. wave pool; Paradise River – a meandering lazy river to float along – or maybe not so “lazy” after all!; Tonga Tubes – a 40 foot tall twin tube-slide complex; Voodoo Plunge – a 60 foot triple slide complex. Jubilee Junction The place to go when you’ve worked up an appetite. Choose from snack stands to sit down restaurants. Or maybe a little shopping therapy is in order – there are speciality shops to appeal to everyone including a year-round Christmas shop. Visit the Royal Palm Theatre to see the dazzling ice show, which changes to reflect the season. Wonder at the sight of hundreds of butterflies, or simply stroll around the grounds of Snively Plantation. Shows & Concerts More than fifty all star concerts will take place annually at Star Haven Amphitheatre. The first annual line-up includes such well-known stars as Kenny Rogers, Aaron Carter and Lonestar. General seating is included in the admission price. Mango Bay will once again feature spectacular daily water ski shows as well as “Pirates of Cypress Cove” – a comedy show depicting life on the high seas. There are plans to add even more entertaining events throughout the year. September will bring Kidzpalooza – with special shows, character appearances and lots more to appeal to the young and the young at heart. A special Halloween scare fest is planned for October, with spiders, heights, the dark, monsters, ghosts etc. Admission price provides access to all activities in the park including rides, shows, attractions and concerts. Also included is a second day free, up to six days following the park visit.
